Typical sourcing range

Specifications buyers can use to prepare an RFQ

These are common or configurable manufacturing ranges, not a batch guarantee. Final acceptance values, methods and tolerances are confirmed in the signed product specification and batch COA.

Raw materialWood chips, sawdust or wood charcoal; phosphoric-acid or steam activation by grade
FormPowdered activated carbon
Particle sizeCommon 200 or 325 mesh grades; target screen passing rate is specified by order
Iodine valueTypical configurable range: 800-1,050 mg/g
Methylene blueTypical configurable range: 100-200 mg/g
AshTypical range: 5-18%; higher-quality decolorization grades can target <=10%
MoistureTypically <=5%
pHTypical phosphoric-acid grades: approximately 3-7, depending on washing
Bulk or tapped densityTypical reference range: 250-450 g/L; measurement method must be stated
HardnessNot applicable to powdered activated carbon

Application fit

Common use directions

  • Municipal emergency dosing
  • Industrial wastewater treatment
  • Food and beverage liquid decolorization
  • Chemical liquid purification

Custom manufacturing

Fields that can be reviewed

200/325 mesh, iodine value, methylene blue, pH, caramel decolorization, iron, lower phosphorus or ash and filtration behavior.

Test-method note: PAC particle size can be evaluated by ASTM D5158. Iodine value does not replace application-specific decolorization, filtration-time or methylene-blue testing.

Grade selection

How to specify Wood Based PAC for a bulk order

Use the application, equipment and agreed test methods to turn a typical product range into a contract specification.

Selection factors

  • Define the target liquid, contaminant or color body, dosage point, contact time and downstream filtration method.
  • State a minimum passing rate for 200 or 325 mesh instead of using a nominal mesh description alone.
  • Use methylene blue, caramel or actual-liquid testing when larger molecules or color removal control the result.
  • Review pH, ash, iron, phosphorus and filtration time where product purity or filterability matters.

Quality checks to discuss

  • ASTM D5158 PAC particle size
  • ASTM D4607 iodine value when applicable
  • Methylene-blue or agreed decolorization test
  • pH with a stated preparation method
  • Bulk or tapped density with the method identified

Contract boundary: The signed specification identifies guaranteed values, methods, sampling and tolerances. Website ranges remain sourcing references.

Bulk purchasing

Standard commercial terms to include in the RFQ

Stock, final MOQ, production date, guaranteed values, packing cost, freight, payment terms and inspection scope are confirmed for the specific quotation and contract.

Standard MOQ

1 metric ton

Orders below 1 metric ton are reviewed against the grade, available stock, packing and freight cost.

Sample review

Standard samples

Standard samples are normally free; the buyer usually covers international courier cost. Sample quantity is matched to the product and test method.

Export packing

Bag or FIBC options

25 kg bags, 500 or 1,000 kg FIBC bulk bags, and pallet options by order

Order documents

COA, TDS and SDS

Document scope and timing are confirmed with the quotation, specification and shipment stage.

FAQ

Wood Based PAC purchasing questions

No. Particle hardness is not a meaningful acceptance field for powdered carbon. Use particle-size distribution, methylene blue, decolorization, filtration time, density and dispersibility instead.

Both are common sourcing directions. The contract should state the target mesh and minimum passing rate rather than only a nominal mesh name.

The target liquid, dosage and filtration method should be shared first so the sample grade and quantity match the intended bench test.
